Terms of Service
Effective August 2026
These terms govern repair services provided by Control Board Lab ("we," "us"). By placing an order or shipping a unit to us, you agree to them.
1. Services
We provide mail-in, board-level repair of industrial electronics. Flat-price services cover diagnosis and repair of the failure modes listed on the service page, including replacement parts and functional testing. Evaluation-track services begin with a free bench evaluation and a written quote; no repair work is performed without your approval.
2. Repair authorization
A purchase of a flat-price service authorizes the listed repair scope. If diagnosis finds your unit needs work beyond that scope, we contact you with options before any additional charge — you may approve the difference, take the unit back repaired to the extent the flat price covers, or cancel per Section 3. Evaluation-track work proceeds only after you approve the written quote.
3. Refunds, unrepairable units & no-fault-found
- Unrepairable flat-price unit: full refund of the repair price and any rush fee; return shipping is not refunded (or we can responsibly recycle the unit at no charge at your instruction).
- Evaluation-track unit: if you decline the quote or the unit is unrepairable, you owe nothing except return shipping if you want the unit back.
- No fault found: if a flat-price unit tests fully functional against the reported symptom, a $95 test-and-verify fee applies and the balance is refunded.
- Before shipment: orders cancel for a full refund any time before your unit arrives at the lab.
4. Warranty
Completed repairs carry a 24-month warranty on the work performed and parts installed, as described on the warranty page — which is part of these terms. The warranty excludes damage from external causes (electrical events, liquid ingress, mechanical damage, misapplication, upstream equipment failures) and units serviced or modified elsewhere after our repair.
5. Shipping & risk
You bear cost and risk of inbound shipment; we recommend insuring it. We bear risk while the unit is in our possession, up to the unit's fair used replacement value. Return shipments are insured at the service price unless you request (and pay for) higher declared value. Units over 50 lb require freight arrangements made with us in advance.
6. Your data & programs
We treat customer applications, parameters, and stored data as confidential, use them only to perform the service, and do not copy them beyond service-necessary backups, which are deleted after warranty expiry. You are responsible for maintaining your own offline backups; despite best practices, we cannot guarantee data-bearing components will survive every failure or repair.
7. Abandoned units
Units left with us 90+ days after we request instructions (quote declined and return shipping unpaid, or unreachable contact) may be recycled or used for parts after two written notices.
8. Limitation of liability
Our total liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for that service or the unit's fair used replacement value. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including downtime, lost production, or lost profits. Industrial equipment must be reinstalled and commissioned by qualified personnel per the manufacturer's documentation; you are responsible for safe reinstallation and application.
9. Independent service
We are an independent repair company. Manufacturer names and part numbers are used solely to identify equipment; no affiliation, endorsement, or authorization is implied. Third-party repair may void an active OEM warranty — check yours before ordering.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Venue for disputes is Tarrant County, Texas.
