Yaskawa Servopack Alarm A.10 — Overcurrent, Explained
A.10 on a Yaskawa Sigma-series Servopack is the overcurrent alarm: the drive detected current beyond its limit and shut down to protect itself. The two suspects are a failed power stage inside the Servopack — the most common hard failure — or a shorted motor/cable that the drive is correctly protecting itself from.
What's usually behind it
Failed power stage in the Servopack
A shorted IGBT fires A.10 the moment the drive enables. Board-level repair replaces the power stage with new components, verifies gate drive, and recaps the bus — typically $400–$900 on SGDM/SGDH-class units.
Shorted motor or cable
Megger the motor phases to ground with the leads disconnected before trusting any amplifier to it. If our free evaluation shows your Servopack is healthy, you pay nothing — and you've cleared the expensive suspect.
Regeneration faults (A.30/A.32)
Regen-path alarms point at the regeneration resistor or internal circuit rather than the output stage — also repairable at board level.
